How to print multiple PDF pages on one sheet

Drop your PDFs into the print layout tool, open Page settings (the ⚙ button in the toolbar on a computer, Settings in the bottom bar on a phone) and change PDF pages per sheet from Actual size to 2 per sheet or 4 per sheet. The PDF pages are grouped in order, scaled down evenly and placed together on one Letter sheet. Then click Export / print.

2 or 4 per sheet?

2 per sheet suits full-page documents: a hotel folio, a utility bill, an invoice that fills a whole page. Just like the “2 pages per sheet” option in a printer driver, two portrait pages on a portrait sheet are turned 90° and stacked when that makes them larger, each at roughly 60–70% of its original size. Turn the printout sideways to read it; there’s no need to change the orientation yourself. Pages that are already landscape simply stack without turning.

4 per sheet saves the most paper and works well for lecture slides and handouts, where the type is large. A full-page document squeezed into a quarter of the sheet ends up with text about half its original height, so a 10 pt invoice prints at around 5 pt; that’s hard going for fine print. Pages are turned automatically whenever that makes them bigger, so widescreen slides get the most room too.

How is this different from your PDF reader?

The “multiple pages per sheet” option in a PDF reader only works within the one file you have open, so separate invoices have to be merged first. Here you can drop in several PDFs at once, mix in photos or screenshots, and export everything as a single file. If you’re printing receipts for an expense claim, see how to print multiple invoices or receipts on one page as well; whether a scaled-down copy is acceptable is up to your employer or accountant, so check with them.

Your files are processed in your browser and never uploaded. Open the invoice and receipt page to try it.
